How do you keep your vestments so low-priced?

CharbelVestments is located in Singapore, a port city, where access to some of the best materials (silk fabrics, trimmings, lace, semi-precious stones etc.) is readily available. Also, the ease of a digital shop front allows us to transfer the cost-savings to our customers.

Can hand-embroidered vestments really be so cheap?

Yes, they can. The cost of living in here is relatively lower than that of Europe and the West. Therefore, with lower labour costs, hand-embroidered vestments are no longer too dear to afford, even though the countless hours and effort taken to produce one remains unchanged.

How can I be sure that your vestments are hand-embroidered?

Our vestments are 100% hand-embroidered, with silk threads, coloured cotton threads, silver threads, gold threads or a combination of different threads. If you really need to verify, just unpick the vestments to check on the cotton backing.

Why hand-embroidery and not woven fabrics?

To a certain degree, gold embroidery (or even needle-painting) was intended to take the place of figured materials woven with gold threads (or coloured threads). Since our hand-embroidered vestments cost almost the same as woven fabric vestments from other makers, there is no reason why one would not prefer our hand-embroidered ones.

How experienced are you?

Our embroiders and vestment-makers have over 20 years of experience in embroidery and vestment-making. If making bridal gowns is easy, vestment making cannot be any more difficult. (Our people started off sewing wedding gowns for a living, while supplying vestments for local parishes)

What are your credentials?

Though CharbelVestments was only established a year ago, we have received many positive reviews from satisfied customers who commissioned their vestments from us. Please visit the Customers Testimonials page for more info.

What can CharbelVestments do?

Basically any kind of embroidered vestments – Nothing is too difficult for us. The only thing we ask for is that orders be placed in advance, because many hours go into the embroidery, especially those with rich and complex designs.

How much in advanced should I place my orders?

Usually 2 months before the item is needed. For Solemn High Mass Sets, we ask for 3 months. Precious Mitres and other smaller items can usually be delivered within 2 months upon the confirmation of order.

How much time is spent on your hand-embroidered vestments?

E.g. The embroidery of one Rich Italian Design Low Mass Set requires 108 hours to complete. An embroider is only able to work a maximum of 6 hours a day. N.B. Gold threads are not easy to work with as they snap more often.
